Theresa Wilkes, 46, was killed when her minivan crashed into a power pole, throwing personal belongings across the road, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Coroner.

“She was a very devoted mom of three. She was so friendly and welcoming, she had the biggest smile, she would always wave and say hi,” said Wilkes’ neighbor, Christy Vulich. “The kids were always out in the neighborhood playing.”

Wilkes leaves behind three teenagers.

The crash was reported at Sierra Highway near Scherzinger Lane at 3:10 p.m. Friday, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Public Information Office.

Wilkes was confirmed dead at the scene, said Detective Dan Finn with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

The Stevens family, who set up the GoFundMe page, posted this statement on the page:

“On Friday, October 16th, beautiful Theresa Wilkes was in a fatal car accident while on her way to work. She was taken from this world too soon leaving behind her three beautiful children, too young to be without their mama. She was a wonderful mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend to anyone that was lucky enough to be in her life. Because she was a single-mother, this page has been set up to support Theresa’s children with funeral costs, in hopes they can celebrate her as beautifully as the person she was. We are deeply saddened by her tragic passing and our lives are forever changed. Please keep Theresa’s children in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. Forever in our hearts. Thank you all for your support.”

  1. I’m sorry that she died and was a wonderful person, but I’m tired of the go fund me that is being used for everything.
As a responsible adult I have Life, auto, home and other insurance policies that are required to protect to myself and love ones.
Go fund me is a good thing but I feel it’s being abused.
    Sincerely,
    RS Kowalczyk

    • Thats a lil true. But not everyone can afford to pay for those policies. If you can help do if not it’s ok

    • Participation is voluntary. We all struggle in life, some more fortunate than others. Gifts will help but will never be as good as having her around. Your comment was insensitive to those who knew and loved her.

    • Nobody asked your opinion Rude A**

    • They are using go fund me because the kids (oldest being only 18) are left with the expenses. Their dead beat dad doesn’t want anything to do with the situation or with them.

      • Hi. This is the second oldest daughter Miranda Wilkes. My father is anything BUT a dead beat dad. You should be ashamed of yourself. You have no idea what my father has been through. Get your facts straight before you run your mouth telling everyone something that isn’t true. You’re disgusting.

        • Ms Wilkes, I’m so sorry to see your suffing excaserbated by idiots who think they know everything and then mouth off without thinking. I hope you and your family are able to find some comfort out there for yourself. There are resources availible to help guide you through these tough times. My condolances to you and yours.

    • I am disgusted by what you just said. She was my mother and she was the most beautiful person you could ever imagine. THINK before you speak because some people aren’t as fortunate enough to pay for something they need whenever

  2. My condolences.

  3. Mr. Kowalczyk,

It will be nice if everyone can afford to have all the neccesary Insurances to protect themselves. Unfortunately, Not everyone can afford it. A little compassion goes a long way.

It’s hard to be a single mother and especially to look after and provide for three children. May God protect and look after her children.
I got the opportuniity of knowing this beautiful woman inside and out.

    Theresa, Rest In Peace!!

  4. Boy some people really don think before they speak.. Have some heart

  5. Theresa was a wonderful and kind person and always had a smile on her face !! She left a BIG impact on this world and will be deeply missed by me and all her friends at the Mint Canyon Moose Lodge. We will be praying for all her children and she will always live in our hearts forever…..RIP Theresa and may God watch over your loved ones.
