Gusty winds are expected to whip through the Santa Clarita Valley this coming week as Santa Anas return to southern California.
The northeast-north winds are expected to begin Tuesday night and last through Thursday, reaching speeds of up to 55 miles per hour.
The winds are expected to be strongest through the I-5 Corridor and Santa Clarita Valley, as well as over the Santa Barbara Mountains and outer coastal waters, according to NWS officials.
Starting Thursday, northeast winds are expected to reach 30-50 miles per hour, with the strongest gusts coming Thursday and Friday.
Residents are advised to beware of elevated fire weather conditions, as well as potential power outages and downed tree limbs.
“Be extra careful with anything that can start a fire,” read an NWS social media post on Tuesday. “We’re still in high fire season despite the recent rain.”
