Hot, Dry Conditions Transitioning To Rain In The Santa Clarita Valley

Hot and windy conditions with elevated fire risks are expected for the beginning of the week in Santa Clarita, before temperatures drop and rain arrives.

Monday, Santa Clarita Valley temperatures are expected to stay in the 80s, accompanied by moderate Santa Ana winds, said Rose Schoenfield, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

“Tuesday and Wednesday will be transitioning days when temperatures will be falling,” Schoenfeld said.

By Thursday, rain is expected to arrive in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to Schoenfeld.

The valleys are expected to receive between 1 and 2 inches and the foothills and mountains could see 2 to 4 inches of precipitation, according to officials.

Conditions are also expected to be breezy with southwest winds gusting to 35 mph.

Rain is expected to linger through Saturday, before a second system is expected to move into the area by Sunday or Monday, according to Schoenfeld.

Temperatures are also expected to drop with highs in the mid-50s to lower 60s beginning Thursday, lasting through the weekend.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
