Over the weekend, temperatures in the Santa Clarita Valley are expected to be near triple digits, with low humidity and gusty winds raising the risk for brush fires, officials said.
Temperatures are expected to rise this weekend, said Lisa Phillips, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
On Saturday temperatures are expected to be in the high 80s, and climbing to the mid-90s on Sunday, lasting through the beginning of next week, according to officials.
“Winds will be out of the northeast at 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph,” Phillips said.
Not only is it expected to be hot and windy, humidity levels are also expected to drop from around 60 percent down into the mid-teens, causing the risk of brush fires to rise, according to officials.
This week alone, Santa Clarita has already seen three separate brush fires, the South Fire, the Sierra Fire and the Vasquez Fire, all which were held under an acre.
Temperatures are expected to be back into the 80s by the middle of next week, according to officials.
