Rain is expected to move into the Santa Clarita Valley this weekend, with a slight chance of light snow in the Grapevine.
Two storms are expected to move into the Santa Clarita Valley Friday, with a second storm expected Saturday evening, said Bryan Lewis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS).
“The first storm will come through late Friday night into Saturday morning,” Lewis said.
After the first storm, skies are expected to clear during Saturday afternoon before a second storm moves into the area, according to NWS officials.
The second storm, which Lewis says is expected to be a stronger system, will move in Saturday night into Sunday morning.
A 20 percent chance of thunderstorms is expected with the second system, according to Lewis.
Snow elevations are expected to drop down to 6,000 feet, bringing almost 6 inches of snow, according to Lewis.
Rain showers are expected to linger through Monday morning, however, temperatures are expected to drop over Sunday evening bringing a chance of a dusting of snow in the Grapevine.
By next week, conditions will dry out, with temperatures expected to be in the low to mid 70s.
