Up to 5 inches of rain is expected throughout the Santa Clarita Valley beginning this weekend.
Two storm systems are headed our way, with the second storm delivering the most rainfall, said John Dumas, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS).
“We are looking for two different systems beginning Saturday, But there probably will not be much rain with the first push in Santa Clarita,” Dumas said.
The second storm is set to arrive Sunday evening into Monday morning, bringing heavier amounts of rain unlike last week’s storm that brought steadier rain, Dumas explained.
“This (second storm) we will get more bursts of heavier rain, with a 10 to 20 percent chance of thunderstorms,” Dumas said.
Rain is expected to become heavy around 4 a.m. Monday morning, with precipitation lasting through Wednesday.
When the storm is all said and done, Santa Clarita could receive 2 to 5 inches of rain, Dumas said.
Winds are also expected to be around 25 mph, however, if thunderstorms do form, they could bring gustier winds and prompt flash flood warnings, according to officials.
Snow levels are expected to remain around 7,000 feet, not impacting local mountain passes near Santa Clarita.
