Rain Predicted In The Weekend Santa Clarita Weather Forecast

The first rainstorm of the year is predicted for the weekend Santa Clarita weather forecast, officials said Thursday.

Starting Saturday into Sunday, the Santa Clarita Valley is expected to receive between a quarter to a half-an-inch of rain, said David Sweet, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

“We’re expecting mostly light rain,” Sweet said.

The expected storm would be the first rainstorm Santa Clarita would have this year, according to officials.

Since the start of the weather year, which begins Oct. 1, Santa Clarita has received zero inches of precipitation, according to Sweet.

By November, a normal amount of rainfall would be 1.09 inches, Sweet said.

“This will be our first rainfall of the season, and hopefully it will help catch us up,” Sweet said.

The rain is expected to last through Sunday, bringing gusty winds with it, according to forecasters.

“We can see some fairly windy conditions with gusts in the 20 to 30s, with higher gusts in the mountains around 40,” Sweet said.

Snow levels are expected to be slightly higher than the Grapevine and as of Thursday, are not expected to result in any freeway closures, according to NWS officials.

“Snow levels are going to start right above the Grapevine, but we do not expect any problems on the Grapevine,” Sweet said.

By Monday, skies are expected to clear up with temperatures in the mid-60s throughout the week.
