With the winter months beginning to wrap up, the famous Southern California heat is once again rolling in with near triple digits expected.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has officially issued a heat advisory for Santa Clarita Wednesday through Friday, including Santa Clarita among other coastal and valley areas.
The NWS Los Angeles advises residents to be wary of the first heat spike of the year, specifically Thursday and Friday as the higher temperatures may prove to be dangerous.
With temperatures expected to peak between 90 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit across Los Angeles County, Santa Clarita residents can expect highs in the upper 90’s on Thursday and Friday, lows in the 60’s at night.
Winds are expected to stay moderately breezy, coming from the Northeast.
Winds are expected to be between 18-28mph with gusts up to 40mph on Thursday and 14-16mph with gusts up to 23mph on Friday.
These conditions can prove to have moderate risk, to those without adequate access to hydration or have struggles regulating body temperature. These conditions are also ideal for brush fires, so be extra cautious and obey all mandates and laws in your area for grills, wood fires, fireworks, and more items that could result in a brush fire.
The NWS-Los Angeles recommends residents of Santa Clarita wear lightweight, loose, light-colored clothing, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water (even when you are not yet thirsty), never leave kids or animals unattended in cars, avoid strenuous activity during peak temperatures, and to check in on elder neighbors, friends and family members.
