Thursday night into late Friday, most of southwest California, including the Santa Clarita Valley, is expected to face a cold storm system sweeping the region, according to the National Weather Service.
A cold storm system will move over the area Thursday night through late Friday night, with LOW snow levels near 3000'. Winter conds expected above 5000' with impacts to mountain roads & passes, including Tejon Pass. Check road conds before you go! #CAwx pic.twitter.com/u9jqvDhvad

At least half an inch of rain is expected, with up to one inch of precipitation in mountains and heavier downpours, according to the NWS.
With temperatures hovering in the mid-50s through Thursday and dropping to the upper-30s overnight, there is a high chance of snow falling to the 3,000-foot level.
According to the NWS, snow at these low levels can impact not only the 5 Freeway through the Tejon Pass but also Highway 14, portions of the Antelope Valley, and foothill areas like Santa Clarita.
Travelers through the Tejon Pass are advised to exercise caution, as significant impacts, including closures, may occur due to winter weather conditions, including 3-8 inches of snow at elevations of 5,000 feet and higher.
Some relief is expected on Saturday and Sunday, as Santa Clarita Valley residents can look forward to brighter and sunnier conditions as the weekend approaches— good news for those looking forward to viewing the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday.
