The Santa Clarita weather forecast predicts a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms and increased humidity Wednesday, due to increased monsoon moisture coming from the east and headed toward coastal areas, officials said.

While the National Weather Service is predicting temperatures in the mid 90s and sunny weather for most of the day, meteorologists believe monsoon weather conditions to the east of Santa Clarita could push thunderstorms quickly into the Santa Clarita Valley.
Due to monsoonal flows coming from the east, conditions are moving towards portions of southwestern California Wednesday into Thursday, according to the National Weather Service Twitter account.

The danger of thunderstorms will increase as the cloud banks travel west, according to officials.
“The warning is happening for areas around the coast today,” said Stuart Seto, a National Weather Service forecaster. “The chance of thunderstorms will still be going on from today to this evening.”
Wind speeds are expected to reach about 15 to 20 mph in Santa Clarita throughout the day, higher than normal for this time of year, according to Seto.
