Triple-digit temperatures are expected for the Santa Clarita weather forecast bringing elevated fire conditions and poor air quality, officials said.
Starting Thursday temperatures are expected to be in the mid-90s which is expected to be the beginning of a heating trend, said Joe Sirard, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
“Highs will be in the upper 90s to around 102 on Saturday and Sunday,” Sirard said.
On Saturday and Sunday, humidity levels are expected to be in the low teens with breezy conditions, according to NWS officials.
“We are not expecting any advisory winds but winds will be around 10-to-20 mph,” Sirard said.
Due to the high temperatures and low humidity levels, officials have put an elevated fire risk warning for the Santa Clarita Valley.
By Monday, temperatures are expected to start cooling off back down into the low 80s to around 90 by Thursday next week, Sirard said.
In addition to the hotter temperatures, air quality is expected to be unhealthy for sensitive groups and individuals on Thursday, July 9, in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Forecast.
Santa Clarita residents living or working in these areas, as well as children, with heart disease, asthma or other respiratory diseases are urged to minimize outdoor activities, Los Angeles County Health Officer, Muntu Davis said.
