A Saugus High School baseball athlete is set to represent his College Development Team in the upcoming Junior Olympics this summer.
Saugus High Sophomore Toby Lite is set to represent Garciaparra Baseball Group (GBG).
“Trying out for and making the initial team was difficult and competitive. When GBG announced a chance to play in the Junior Olympics, Toby had to go through a more rigorous process to make that squad,” said John Lite, Toby’s father.
With a batting average of .220 and an on-base percentage of .267, Lite is set to play in both the 16U division as well as the 17U division.
GBG is a respected college development program nationwide, run by Michael Garciaparra, a current scout for the St. Louis Cardinals along with his father, Ramon.
GBG has propelled many other Santa Clarita Athletes into college baseball progress across the country including: Hunter Pohl, Jakob Marquez, Cole Roederer and current Major
League Baseball Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene.
Toby is scheduled to be in the 16U division from Monday, June 27, through Monday, July 4, and the 17U division from Monday, June 20 through Monday, July 4.
