Emergency Officials Respond To Colossus Fire At Magic Mountain

Los Angeles County Fire Department and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials are reporting that Colossus at Six Flags Magic Emergency Officials Respond To Colossus Fire At Magic MountainMountain is on fire.

“A welder caught Colossus on fire,” said Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials. “Spectators are blocking roads watching the fire.” 

The highest point of the ride is completely engulfed in flames, according to officials.

“It’s a 1,000 square foot fire on Colossus,” said Steven Guerro, student worker for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. There are no reported injuries. Stations 156, 126 and 124 are responding.”

 UPDATE : 2:16 p.m.

The Colossus Fire was knocked down at 2:08 p.m.

“Magic Mountain is closed for the day, the park was completely closed,” Scott Miller, inspector with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “We’re meeting with Six Flags Magic Mountain officials. There are no injuries from our personnel.”

UPDATE: 2:36 p.m.

Los Angeles county Fire Department Hazmat, Urban Search and Rescue,two paramedics, a ladder truck and two engines are on scene at Colossus, officials said.

“They’ve been working on (Colossus) since August, the cause of the fire is undetermined,” said Stephanie English, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “We are making sure no falling pieces put anyone is jeopardy. Magic Mountain officials and Fire Department officials.”

Six Flags Magic Mountain officials and Los Angeles County Fire Department officials are working together to “make it safe.”

UPDATE: 2:40 p.m.

“The ride was being disassembled and the fire started when the ride was being disassembled,” said English.

UPDATE 3:37 p.m.

“The fire at the top of the lift hill at Colossus is now out,” said Sue Carpenter, spokeswoman for Six Flags Magic Mountain. “It was started while work was being done to disassemble the ride. The park was closed today and there were no injuries. Colossus has been closed since August 17 for renovation.”
