Holidays aren’t just busy for those of us who need to find last minute gifts or who are having all of our relatives over for dinner.

Bail bonds agents often work the holidays and several of these days are extremely busy for agents, said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita.

Here is a list of the busiest holidays for bail agents:

1. Christmas
2. New Years
3. 4th of July
4. St. Patrick’s Day
5. Halloween
6. Thanksgiving
7. Labor Day
8. Cinco de Mayo
9. Mardi Gras
10. Superbowl Sunday

Chavez often works with several bail agents at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita during the holidays to be able to keep up with “the rush.”

“We get dozens of calls during the holidays, especially before Christmas and after New Years,” Chavez said.  “For Christmas, people want their loved ones out of jail so they can spend the holiday together with their whole family.”

Jails are often overcrowded during the peak times of year, making it easier to bail people out, Chavez said.

“Holidays are meant for spending time with your family and it’s sad if one person is stuck in jail,” Chavez said. “Families should get to spend time together.”

Chavez added that people often wait till a couple days before Christmas to bail out their family member.

“A majority of the people we bail out on these peak days are people who have been arrested on DUI charges, shoplifting or theft,” Chavez said. “We want you to be safe and to not be involved in a DUI crime.”

Here are some tips, provided by Chavez, to avoid being arrested for a DUI on these peak days:

1. Designate a driver.
2. Have someone you can call if you’re designated driver plan falls through.
3. Have a cab, Safe Rides or other transportation service phone number programmed into your cellphone.
4. Know your drinking limit.
5. Be responsible.

“Our agents at All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita, and most bail agents everywhere else, are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist in bailing out your loved ones,” Chavez said.
