Kyle Jellings: Santa Clarita’s Hometown Station AM-1220 KHTS. I am Kyle Jellings, this is the Neighborhood Watch on your Hometown Station AM-1220 KHTS (presented by All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita). Myself and Jessica Boyer co-host and actually, deputy. Or, PIO Shirley Miller.

Shirley Miller: Public Information Officer.

Kyle Jellings: Not a deputy yet. We all co-host the Neighborhood Watch and we talk about crime prevention and community programs in conjunction with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Today we have Zone 2, so we’re starting with Zone 2. From my understanding, it does not, what zone you’re in does not mean that you are the second best Zone Leader, it’s just where you are.

Shirley Miller: The last time that I was here we had Deputy DeYoung, Zone 1. Now didn’t you tell him that he was number one?

Kyle Jellings: Yeah, well I mean he was number one in the program.

Jessica Boyer: He still is Zone 1.

Kyle Jellings: Deputy Rooney here is number one in our hearts, though. So we’re about to find out.

Shirley Miller: Deputy Brian Rooney, Zone 2, just a reminder for those who are listening who don’t know what the zones are, Zone 2 is Castaic, Val Verde area.

Kyle Jellings: And that’s you.

Brian Rooney: That’s me. And I’m number one in that zone.

Kyle Jellings: So we’re talking about that and speaking of zones, you can of course, we talk about this every week but Nixle is something that you should pay attention to if you’re a part of this community so make sure you sign up for the Nixle alerts, you can go to nixle.com and sign up for all of the Sheriff’s Station alerts and different things of that nature. But let’s get into it, Deputy Rooney, Zone 2, what type of things do you see in the Val Verde area, Castaic, Val Verde area, what types of things are you used to, what types of things do you see out there?

Brian Rooney: You know the crimes out there are the same as most of the other zones. There’s theft, there’s, you know.

Shirley Miller: I’m trying to remember how long have you been the Zone Leader out in Castaic, Val Verde.

Brian Rooney: I’ve been the Zone 2 Leader since the inception of the CPU so 2010.
