Known as the Los Angeles County Uniform Bail Schedule, law enforcement officials use the schedule when booking and setting bail for an arrestee.

“Local arresting agencies like the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station use the schedule to quickly assign bail amounts at the jail so the defendant doesn’t have to wait to see a judge,” said Inessa Chavez, vice president of All American Bail Bonds in Santa Clarita. “It has hundreds of charges detailed along with the correct bail amounts.”

The 2016 Felony Bail Schedule for Los Angeles County states, “The purpose of this bail schedule is to fix an amount upon which a person who is arrested without a warrant may be released from custody prior to appearance in court.”

While “presumptive” bail is listed for the hundreds of various charges, the schedule also includes additions to presumptive bail in certain cases.

One of the most expensive bail amounts listed in the schedule is for the charge of murder, which is set at $2,000,000. The charge of murder with special circumstance, however, is not bailable, according to the schedule.

Other listed charges that come with a $1,000,000 bail amount include aggravated mayhem; kidnapping for purpose of felony sexual offense; kidnapping for ransom, robbery, sex offense, etc., including kidnapping a child under age 14 to deprive custody; kidnapping during a carjacking; false imprisonment – kidnap to evade arrest; train wrecking and more.

The charge of possession or purchase for sale of certain specific or classified controlled substances ranges from $30,000 in the case of up to one kilogram and $5,000,000 if over 80 kilograms.

“If you or your loved one has been arrested, give us a call 24-7 and we can help walk you through the bail bonding process,” Chavez said. “We want to help turn a stressful situation into as positive an experience as possible under the circumstances.”
