Because of the success of last year’s fair, 40 to 50 vendors are expected to participate in the second annual event in Santa Clarita, where they will display their latest work and sell their wares.

Jim McGuire of Wood N’ Tole is set to appear at the event with a variety of handmade woodworking creations on hand, from clothes trees to welcome signs to celebrity portraits.

“I’ve got a whole little line of welcome signs with bears, moose, deer, wolves and things like that,” McGuire said. “We’ve innovated on that and we’ve taken ‘welcome’ off and put a family name on it… Pretty much whatever you want, if I can do it, I’ll do it for you. I like custom work, because then I can get a little more creative and I’m doing something somebody wants.”

With more than 35 years of woodworking experience, McGuire’s award-winning carvings can be used as family keepsakes, home decorations, mementos and gifts.

“I love functional art,” Gadler said. “I love things that you can use that are beautiful to look at, and I think cats are probably one of the most beautiful animals there are.”

Gadler’s award-winning cups feature handpainted cats whose tails become the curling handle of the cup, as well as a variety of decorative borders like etched swirls, lavender roses, sunflowers, paw prints and more.

Other arts and crafts vendors set to appear at the show include Alex Hats, Harmony Hallows, Origami Owl, Santa Clarita Quilt Guild, Swankey Trends, Thirty-One Gifts and Weathered Wonders.

KHTS AM-1220 has been producing free Santa Clarita home and garden shows for six years. This year’s KHTS Home and Garden Show and KHTS Arts and Craft Fair is set for Saturday, April 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Valencia Hyatt.
