The Imago Dei School, Trinity’s school-within-a-school for students with special needs, will also have two students participating in the museum.
Each of the 50 students were assigned a specific biographical figure from Greek Mythology with the assignment to write a one minute monologue and then transform into their character by the use of costumes and props.
The annual Mount Olympus Wax Museum event will be happening on Friday, Oct. 16 from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m.
“The Mount Olympus Wax Museum is the perfect culmination of weeks of study, and gives students a unique historical perspective of that time, especially when they are able to interact in such a way with guests,” said Kevin Seitz, grammar school principal at Trinity Classical Academy. “The historical museums have become an excellent teaching tool that engages all types of learners from reading the detailed history, listening to stories and participating in classroom plays about Greek Mythology and eventually transforming into a character to become a part of the history lesson.”
The mission of the Imago Dei School is to offer students with learning and developmental disabilities hope and a future in a Christ-centered, inspired, special education setting within the vibrant Trinity Classical Academy culture, utilizing mediated teaching techniques, individualized educational therapy and intentional social thinking strategies, to produce well-rounded young men and women of courage and independence.
“The Imago Dei students follow the same classical, Christian curriculum as all Trinity students and history is one of many areas where Imago Dei students are mainstreamed,” explained Imago Dei School Principal Megan Howell. “The Mount Olympus Wax Museum is an excellent example of how we are able to integrate the Imago Dei students seamlessly into the Trinity culture which presents opportunities for our students to learn and grow alongside their general education peers.
Trinity Classical Academy has grown from 28 students to over 550 in transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade, making it one of the largest classical, Christian schools in the country.
The mission of Trinity Classical Academy has remained consistent: to offer a challenging education, grounded in the Christian faith and the classical tradition, to produce young men and women of virtue, wisdom, purpose and courage.
