For decades, there have been whispers of a group of teenagers who crashed their car on prom night in the 80’s, never to leave that stretch of road in Canyon Country again.

Some have claimed that the spirit of a girl can be seen late at night at the corner of Sand Canyon Road and Warm Springs Drive, where the car she was riding in with three others was rumored to have struck a tree, killing all four.
No official records of such a crash seem to exist, but that didn’t stop longtime paranormal investigator and host of the YouTube series “Ghost Talk” Destiny Soria from putting the prom night legend to the test.

In 2014, Soria brought a small team of self-proclaimed “ghost hunters” to Santa Clarita armed with recorders and video cameras, ready to feature the spot in an episode of “Ghost Talk.”
“The story goes, around midnight to 3:00 (a.m.) when people are driving, they can see a girl run towards them for help, and then she would just disappear,” Soria told the KHTS Features team from the site. “I was hoping to see her.”
Soria recalled arriving at the Canyon Country intersection around midnight, parking around the corner and walking over to the roadside tree where the crash was said to have happened.
“The vibe of the area, it wasn’t threatening,” Soria recalled, noting that the first thing she did was call on the rumored spirits to tell her if she was in the right place.
“It was a teenage guy’s voice saying, ‘Yes, we’re here,’” she said. “Clear as day… It was amazing — you could even hear it on the video.”
Though she continued to ask questions, Soria didn’t hear the voice again that night. At one point the group heard what Soria called heavy footsteps and some sort of growling in the bushes around them, which she noted they caught on camera.

After each instance of potentially paranormal activity, Soria would investigate the area to make sure no one else was around, and noted each time the group seemed to be completely alone.
When they finally decided to leave around 3 a.m. that morning, Soria noted the atmosphere remained peaceful and the “spirits” non-threatening.
“It was calm, it was okay,” she said. “It wasn’t like I was in danger being around them.”
Now three years later, KHTS’ own video editor Andrew Menjivar joined Soria and another “Ghost Talk” team member after nightfall to conduct a second investigation, but the so-called spirits remained quiet that night.
“I think it’s true,” Soria said of the mysterious prom night crash. “From hearing a teenage boy’s voice to footsteps — it’s really active here… I’m hoping to come back and actually see something.”
