UPDATE: 3:08 p.m., Los Angeles County Firefighters extinguished the blaze shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Investigators believe the fire charred about 2 acres.
UPDATE 9:50 a.m. Fire officials said the progress has been stopped, and fire officials are still working to mop up.
UPDATE: 9:40 a.m. The fire is holding at 2 acres on the ridge, according to fire officials, but there’s no official containment percentage. Officials are calling it #TheOldFire.
UPDATE 9:30 a.m.: Fire was dispatched at 8:43 a.m. on scene at 8:53 a.m., fire is currently being contained to the ridge, but there’s no official containment percentage yet. There are also no structures threatened at this time, according to fire officials.
UPDATE 9:20 a.m. – A SigAlert has been issued for an unknown duration on the Old Road from Weldon Canyon to San Fernando Road, according to CHP.
UPDATE 9 a.m. – CHP is closing the southbound 14 truck lanes. The Old Road is closed southbound at Weldon Canyon, with traffic being diverted to San Fernando Road from Sierra Highway for northbound traffic, according to CHP.
A fire called #TheOldFire, charred about 2 acres of brush off The Old Road in Newhall.
“That was the max,” said Vanessa Lozano, a representative for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
First responders received the call at 8:43, and were on scene within ten minutes.
“It’s a vehicle fire that is spreading into the brush,” said Lozano.
There was no word as of 9 a.m. of how far the brush fire has spread.
The blaze did not threaten any stuctures, and caused no injuries, officials said.
