A vehicle fire on the 14 Freeway near Acton spread and quickly grew into a second-alarm brush fire Friday afternoon.
UPDATE (3:40 p.m.): Only the No. 2 lane of the northbound 14 Freeway is open just south of Escondido Canyon Road; all other lanes are closed for an unknown duration.
UPDATE (3:27 p.m.): All Evacuation Warnings have been downgraded to Advisories. Residents should remain alert, follow Law and Fire instructions, and stay prepared for changing conditions. Keep windows and doors closed because of nearby smoke.
UPDATE (3:20 p.m.): Forward progress on the Rover Fire has been stopped. The incident is being downgraded from a second- to a first-alarm incident.

Just before 3 p.m. Friday, emergency responders received reports of a vehicle fire on the northbound 14 Freeway near Escondido Canyon Road, according to California Highway Patrol incident logs.
The blaze, named the Rover Fire, spread to brush in both the center divider and right side of the 14 Freeway. Expect delays in the area.
As of 3:03 p.m., the Rover Fire was at least 2 acres in size, and a second alarm response had been requested to protect nearby structures.
