UPDATE: The Vazquez Fire has reached 2.5 acres, with forward progress stopped, said fire officials.

The fire was reported on the 17000 block of Vasquez Canyon Road in Saugus, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Just after 4 p.m. fire department officials received a call for a traffic collision over the side that sparked a brush fire.

“The fire is at one acre, in light grass and no structure threatened at this time,” said fire department Capt. Ron Haralson.

Haralson did not disclose the size and speed of the fire at 4:45 p.m.
