On Feb. 26, 2026, the California Advisory Commission on Special Education (ACSE) announced that Rosedell Elementary in the Saugus Union School District (SUSD) was the recipient of the 2026 ACSE Impact Award.

Specifically, Rosedell was named as this year’s winner for their inclusion program and the work around inclusion for students with disabilities.

The committee shared that Rosedell Elementary was selected from a strong pool of applicants at our Feb. 19, 2026, ACSE meeting.

ACSE is the California Advisory Commission on Special Education and is sponsored by CDE.

This group selects a program to highlight for its “best practices” and “what is working” in California for students with disabilities.

Further, it recognizes “exemplary local educational agencies, schools, school systems, initiatives and programs (hereby referred to as Program) that result in positive outcomes for students with disabilities in the State of California.

Established by the ACSE and in partnership with Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) Administrators of California and Special Education Administrators of County Offices, the ACSE Impact Award recognizes these innovative and replicable Programs with a monetary award and encourages the implementation of these Programs throughout California.

“This entire school is a truly remarkable place in how they strive to support the success of ALL students, especially how they include those with special needs. We have always known how special each staff member is at Rosedell and what a difference they make, but now so does everyone in California.  CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL,” SUSAID Superintendent Dr. Colleen Hawkins said.
