Bees are a serious threat. Their buzzing alone is enough to make a grown man jump.

A justified reaction since, depending on the year, bees, “Killer” Africanized Bees in particular, rank in the top three most dangerous animals in North America. Thousands of people, pets, and livestock have died or been seriously injured for accidentally walking into their territory.

However, despite how dangerous they are, they are extremely important to our ecosystem and livelihood.

Fortunately, eco-friendly beehive removal is one of the many specialties of Unipest. Africanized beehives are much harder and more dangerous to remove than normal beehives and because roughly 80-90% of the feral hives in Santa Clarita are Africanized, you want to ensure you have the best people with the best tools on the job.

If you smoke a hive with pine needle smoke, it may calm down temporarily and if you spray an aggressive hive with pesticide, it may calm down activity for a few days, but unless you remove the hive material itself, the honey on the hive material will protect the queen and the young from the smoke and pesticides, so when the new young reach adulthood in a week, you will be in the same situation. Therefore, the first step is to locate the hive, then to remove it.

At Unipest, many tools are utilized, such as thermal imaging scopes and fiber-optic cameras, to find the precise location of the hive. Once located they will cut the stucco or drywall around the hive, remove it, then patch it back up without any visual indication they were ever there.

Founded in Santa Clarita, Unipest started as a father son-project out of the family garage and after years on the job Unipest has grown to be the premiere pest control company in the Santa Clarita Valley, specializing in eco-friendly and organic options. With every technician on the team being personally trained by the company’s owner Cardon Ellis.
