California Is In Lockdown For The Second Time

California is once again in lockdown. The harsher pandemic closures had been lifted around the time of Memorial Day, which meant that a lot of people made the most of it and resumed life as normal. From visiting salons and stores to protesting in the Black Lives Matter movement and even just celebrating the lockdown lift, Californians made up for lost quarantine time. However, this freedom has been short-lived.

This means that you’ve found yourself once again in lockdown with your family. Schools are closed, as well as gyms, churches, and all retail. It’s time to see if California can get this right the 2nd time around.

COVID Cases Have Risen

As much as we’d like to think that the initial lockdown made a difference since it was lifted, COVID cases have continued to steadily rise, especially over the past month. What’s slightly more troubling than this is that admissions to hospital have increased as well, as the number of coronavirus tests coming back positive has increased.

Health officials have a grim outlook on the mortality rate, expecting to see it rise again over the next few weeks. With the pandemic very much still in control, it was only a matter of time before health officials instructed Governor Gavin Newsom to lower the lockdown back into place.

The state’s reopening plan was brought back to square one on Monday in a renewed effort to flatten the coronavirus’s deadly curve. While people in California will still be able to enjoy going out to eat, they’ll need to stay out on the street. And of course, they’ll need to make sure they’re wearing a mask at all times.

Homeschooling in the Fall

Homeschooling is back on the cards once more. Many families are trying to figure out how to juggle work, school, and their daily responsibilities.

If you struggled with teaching your children their school curriculum at home the first time, you might want to make the most available resources.

There are plenty of reading programs for struggling readers to make the journey a bit easier, so everyone can settle back into lockdown without feeling too overwhelmed.

All of Southern California in Lockdown

Newsom has tightened restrictions in all 30 counties that make up Southern California, as he watches closely what the virus is doing. While Newsom likes to think that bringing the lockdown back is just a temporary measure, for a lot of Californians, it feels like they’re not a long way off enjoying any measure of freedom.

In saying this, though, some of the restrictions are easily understandable. Bars should remain closed, as most people can’t guarantee that they can keep a safe distance from others when they drink. However, stores where hygiene regulations are already high, should hopefully be allowed to resume business again soon.

Public health director Barbara Ferrer, of Los Angeles County, said that Californians have managed to flatten the curve before, so they should be able to do it again. City, county, and state officials are putting fines in place for anyone who is seen outside, not wearing a mask. This should help to make a difference to the curve, as California continues to fight an uphill battle with the coronavirus from the comfort of their homes.
