A person was hospitalized after a large eucalyptus tree fell on a vehicle in Valencia during strong Santa Ana winds Friday afternoon.
Around 12:40 p.m., a tree fell on a vehicle on northbound McBean Parkway just north of Magic Mountain Parkway in Valencia, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
One person was in the vehicle that the tree fell on, and was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.
All lanes of northbound McBean Parkway were temporarily blocked by the tree, which had been planted by the entrance to the Target shopping plaza.
The tree came down as the first Santa Ana event of the season was at its peak in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The strong winds have already resulted in multiple Public Safety Power Shutoffs, and have even cancelled schools for some students in the SCV.
