Mistakes To Avoid When Carrying Out A Corporate Relocation Cross Country

At GPS Moving & Storage, we are experts in commercial relocations and have covered dozens of these. With that being said, we can tell you a thing or two about what to avoid if you want your commercial move to go smoothly. Commercial moves cover offices, stores, departments, shops, and more. Read on to see what these moving mistakes are so that you can avoid them.

Moving a large office at one go

If yours is a large office, you might be tempted to get the entire relocation done in one go. Doing so is not a bad idea. However, it does bring about lots of capacity challenges. The first challenge is that you might not be able to set up your new location in good time because the large relocation will take time. Secondly, moving a large office or department at one go amplifies issues to do with risk of damage, risk of loss, and logistics.

Solution: Try to scale your large move into phases. This will reduce moving-related risks and also allow you to set up your new location in the same phases so that your business does not suffer a long downtime.

Not scheduling enough time to the move + settling in

Unlike residential moves, commercial moves must try to stick to definite timelines. This is because you want your business to be up and running on the expected date. After all, you have work to do and clients to serve on the other end of the move. Unfortunately, commercial moves are more complicated than rescidential moves so they need more time to prepare, carry out, and for you to settle in and start operations. Do not make the mistake of taking your commercial or corporate move to be a simple one.

Solution: Discuss with your long distance movers the ideal time frame for your move so that you are able to plan better and plan your operations accordingly.

Not getting full value moving insurance

Your commercial moving company will offer you basic insurance during your move as is stipulated by the law. However, that will not be enough. Basic moving insurance is not exhaustive enough. And as you well know, commercial moves entail the handling and transportation of important and expensive furniture, equipment, and even documents.

Solution: Seek separate moving insurance coverage from an insurer of your choice. Under this new cover make sure to buy full value insurance and have your goods assessed and valued accurately.

Not considering storage services

Commercial relocations often require that clients seek storage services. This can be brought about by various factors such as the new space not being large enough, the new space not being ready for occupation, and some of the transported goods not being ready for use or actively in use.

Solution: Talk to your cross country movers about your possible storage needs so that you can plan and budget for that in advance.

With the right help from an experienced mover such as GPS Moving & Storage, there is no reason why your corporate relocation won’t go by without a hitch. We can help you with planning, logistics, moving, storage, packing, furniture arrangement, and more.
