Planning Your Dream Wedding In Laguna Beach

It’s an awesome time of the year in Laguna Beach right now. In just minutes it seems spring has sprung. It’s that time of year when all the flowers are blooming, the climate is especially balmy, and love is in the air.

For many people, Laguna is the ultimate location for getting married. The climate is perfect. The beaches are pristine. The ambiance is romantic. With remarkable art pieces, murals, and inspiration around the city, who could think of a more beautiful spot to tie the knot?

With springtime, we also have a profusion of flowers. Daffodils are popping up everywhere. White narcissus fills the air with their fragrance. Star jasmine climbs the walls of many stucco houses and buildings. So, if you’re thinking about a wedding venue for your spring wedding, you’re on the right track.

Seeking Out Your Favorite Spot

If you’re familiar with Laguna, you know that one of the best ways to get around is on foot. When you’re walking the side streets and paths, you’ll stumble on special destinations. One will have a view that you’ve never seen. Another, a quirky gate, or colorful doorway. And, still another, a beautiful piece of art. In fact, there are over 100 pieces of art located all around Laguna.

If you’re not familiar with the layout, ask a local. Most people who live here will be happy to share their favorite spots, picturesque secrets, and hidden haunts. You may just uncover the one that has “our wedding spot” with your name on it.

While you’re walking about, why not check out a local coffee shop or bakery? You could easily find the perfect pastry chef for making your cake, or catering your event.

I don’t know about you, but I find that the exploration on foot is part of what builds a rich fabric for your wedding story.

Wedding Stories Evolve and Change

There is no question that our stories and our lives have changed and continue to change as time goes on. In the last year, with COVID-19, many couples needed to shift their dreams of the perfect wedding. It turned out that an overwhelming number of couples used this as a creative challenge.

People did things they had never envisioned. Just to name a few:

Virtual marriages became popular.
Smaller weddings took off.
Elopements emerged as a hot trend.

For many couples, adapting to unprecedented conditions became a core part of their wedding story. This is something we can relate to and support.

If you are planning a wedding, prepare for changing circumstances.
If you are in the family, support the couple in adapting their plans.
If you are a close friend, encourage the couple to keep the end in mind.

A True Wedding Story

Recently, I was talking with a friend from Augsburg, Germany. I told him about a friend who decided to get married—inspite of COVID-19.

As I described how the couple completely changed their plans. I explained that they basically revamped their entire vision for their wedding day.

The original idea was to get married in a church. Instead, they opted for a backyard of a friend’s house that had plenty of room for outdoor gathering.

The original plan was to invite 300 guests. With guest safety in mind, they invited only 4, their parents.

The original vision was to have massive amounts of flowers. To keep floral costs lower, they used the backdrop of Star Jasmine in the garden as the main flowers.

Nothing was as they had originally imagined for their special day. Yet, it became the story and event of love and meaning for this couple.

My friend shook his head and asked, “Why didn’t they wait?”

I told him what I believe to be true: “they knew that their love could conquer all. By holding their wedding without delay, they were showing their commitment.”

If you’ve been struggling with whether to hold out and delay your wedding, consider the alternatives. You may have different circumstances than you’d envisioned.

Yet, you have each other, you have Laguna, and you have your whole life ahead of you. What’s your vision for your Laguna dream wedding?
