Action Drug Rehab Hour – Alcoholism and Emotional Discovery– July 17th, 2023
On this episode of The Action Drug Rehab Hour, host Cary Quashen welcomes guests – Jules, Kaitlynn, and Zack – to share their journey of substance use and emotional discovery with the audience. Jules opens up by describing her journey in and out of 7 different rehabs and the circumstances that got her there. She discusses the nature of an addictive mindset and also goes over the withdrawal symptoms people suffer from when they abuse drugs. Jules stresses the importance of reaching out to other people and realizing your struggles are normal.
After the first break, Kaitlynn dives into her story, describing how she was a closet drinker going through college. Being in a career oriented in the medical field, Kaitlynn was at risk of losing her professional license; she reflected on how she couldn’t believe that alcoholism had hit someone like her, proving that the disease doesn’t discriminate. Cary also chimes in on how recovering addicts experience strong emotions because they have no outlet to bottle them up anymore. Later, we hear from Zack and his journey with Action, first at 17 and now at 26. Alcoholism ran in his family, and Zack describes how he believed he could beat it, but ended up doing self-admittedly selfish actions. Cary reaffirms Zack by letting him know that he is a good guy and that the road to recovery is only as hard as you make it on yourself.
Finally, Cary wraps up the show by providing final testimonies from all the guests and letting Kaitlynn talk to her mother on the air.
