On this episode of The Action Drug Rehab Hour, host Cary Quashen welcomes Michael Eide, Clinical Director at Action Drug Rehab.
Together with Cary, they are guiding 27 year old Anthony through his second time around in rehab. Anthony is ten days sober in his alcohol addiction.
Cary and Michael talk about opioid epidemic increasing during the pandemic. Nearly all of the street drugs contain fentanyl and stresses that the drugs are not being produced by doctors and are therefore extremely dangerous.
Michael talks about his experience in working with addicts stating that their brains stop developing at the time of use, so he works with adults who behave as teenagers.
Many addicts tend to be drawn towards others with similar tendencies which is quite detrimental to any addiction. He also gives hope, saying that once an addict stops using, the brain can eventually get back to where it should be developmentally.
