Handling Life Changing Moments — Alex Urbina Radio Show — August 30, 2019

Host: Alex Urbina

Co-Host: Ellen Tunick

Topic: Handling Life Changing Moments

Santa Clarita Life Coach and author Alex Urbina was on his weekly radio show this week to talk about how to handle big, life changing moments.

Alex and his co-host, Ellen Tunick, opened the show talking about kids moving away, or going to college, and how that can be a life changing event for parents. Alex says that his son has recently moved across the country, to Florida, and although he doesn’t worry about his son, he finds himself emotional because he misses him.

Ellen agrees, saying that when he daughter went away to college she thinks she cried for a whole year.

Alex says that a big break through to learn in these moments is to admit to ourselves that we are frustrated by situations because we don’t know exactly where they are going. It is about control and we need to admit and feel comfortable with the fact that we can not control them, said Alex.

Ellen adds that when she isn’t living in the moment, and when she is instead worried about the future, she can become fearful. Alex and Ellen agree that in order to accept change, and not live in a place of fear about the future, we all need to be present in the current moment.
