Out Of Bounds – World Cup Wrap Up With Ramsey Abushala And MLB Hot Stove Frenzy – December 22, 2022
On this edition of Out of Bounds with Matt Frieda, speak with Ramsey Abushala about the World Cup, discusses what has been a wild MLB offseason, and talks about NIL’s (from Dabo Swinny’s perspective, at least).
Matt opens the show chatting with Ramsey who is the editor of Urban Pitch, a media outlet based in Los Angeles that covers soccer both state-side in the United States as well as the global stage, ranging from music, to fashion, and all other topics related to the sport. Matt and Ramsey discuss the World Cup Finale in which Argentina narrowly defeated France in a game that could go down as the greatest finale in World Cup history. They also discuss Messi’s legacy in addition to the US Mens National team and their hopes for the 2026 World Cup.
Matt then talks about the MLB offseason in which a combined $3.5 billion have been spent between the 30 MLB teams. While it appears that spending in baseball is up, Matt notes that just 8 teams make up $2.5 billion of that money spent or 84% of the total outlay. Matt and Andrew discuss whether or not baseball needs a salary cap or salary floor and how the moves from other teams will affect the Dodgers next season.
The show is wrapped up as Matt and Andrew have some fun with Clemson Football Head Coach who claimed his program has been built on “God’s Name Image and Likeness) and some of the worst football bowl names in the league.
Listen to the entire show here as Matt discusses the latest happenings in the sports world!
