Antibodies and Their Importance — April 15, 2020

On this episode of the Providence Holy Cross Health Hour with Tom Burton, PT, Tom starts the show by talking about the latest updates and changes in the Safer At Home orders that are in place in the Santa Clarita Valley. Tom provides extremely valuable advice on how to keep yourself protected from getting or spreading Covid-19.

Later in the show, Dr. Bernard Fox joins the show to talk about looking into different people who have been able to resist contracting Covid-19. Dr. Fox has been doing research and testing on the blood, and antibodies found in the blood, that contribute to the person’s ability to fight off Covid-19. With a vaccine far from being ready to manufacture, Dr. Fox and other medical professionals around the world have been looking into the immune systems of people who have not been sick or who have been sick and recovered to find out what makes them resist and recover from the virus. Radio station co-owner, Jeri Serrati-Goldman, joins the show because Dr. Fox has taken Jeri’s blood to perform research on due to Jeri’s longer exposure to those who were ill on the Diamond Princess cruise ship that was quarantined off the coast of Japan for an extended period of time. Dr. Fox and others have great interest in the antibodies that Jeri and other people may possess in their blood, and those medical professionals want to make sure those antibodies are incorporated directly into the vaccine once it is developed.

Listen in to a fascinating show as Tom Burton talks to Dr. Bernard Fox and Jeri Serrati-Goldman about the antibodies in individuals who have recovered from or resisted Covid-19.
