Orthopedic Traumatology — November 20, 2019

On this episode of the Providence Holy Cross Health Hour with Dr. Tom Burton, Dr. Neil Sardesai, M.D., Orthopedic Traumatologist, joins the show to talk about orthopedic traumatology. Dr. Burton talks with Dr. Sardesai, and begins by asking Dr. Sardesai to talk about the inspirations for his choice to get into medicine. Dr. Sardesai talks about how he graduated UCLA with a degree and Master’s degree in bioengineering, and since graduating he has gravitated towards patient care and orthopedics. Dr. Sardesai mentioned that “the duality of taking care of patients and the engineering I still love and care about” was a huge reason for his pursuit of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

Later in the show, Dr. Burton and Dr. Sardesai talk about how the baby boomer generation is starting to become the primary population of those who are being treated for surgeries. Dr. Sardesai shares information about how to detect, prevent, and live a lifestyle that can help avoid some of these issues. There is no way to protect against accidents, but many other issues and surgeries can be prevented by taking care of your body and paying to the signs and signals it gives you. Dr. Sardesai explains how he helps patients understand the pros and cons of performing surgery, and the ways in which it can be avoided. Dr. Sardesai takes great pride in his work, and part of that means helping people even avoid surgery if it means they will be the most healthy moving forward.

Listen in as Dr. Tom Burton talks to Dr. Neil Sardesai about orthopedic traumatology.
