Santa Clarita Life Coach Alex Urbina sat down with his Co-host Ellen Tunick this week to talk about being emotionally affected by the recent set of disasters and traumatic events.

Ellen talks about how emotionally exhausting last week was, with the horrible fires and the most recent shooting.

“I raised my family in Thousand Oaks for 30 years,” said Ellen, “That place is home.”

Ellen also shares that her daughter was evacuated from the fires, and they all worried her house had burned down and that she feels guilty spending this Thanksgiving being joyful for everything and everyone she has in her life while others have lost so much.

Alex encourages Ellen to not take on the guilt and burden of other people’s journeys.

“A compassionate, sympathetic human being will feel someone else’s pain and should reach out to support people who are hurting,” said Alex, “but you can’t wrap yourself up in guilt.”

Alex encourages Ellen to continue with her life, enjoying it and being thankful for what she has and not punishing herself for not being directly affected by the fires and shooting.
