After graduating from Stanford University and Boston University Law School, Penny began practicing law at O’Melveny and Myers in Los Angeles.
In 1989, she joined Trope and Trope, the largest and one of the most prestigious family law firms in California. In 1997, recognizing the benefit of mediation to divorcing families, she took the extensive training necessary for certification under the Dispute Resolution Programs Act. Many years ago, Patti went through a devastating divorce that completely rocked her world. She was blindsided (although after looking back, she saw the signs, but ignored them) and she was an emotional wreck. Her son was only 18 months old.
The sense of fear, sadness, devastation and confusion was truly beyond her comprehension. At times, she felt as if she couldn’t breathe.
Amazingly, in the midst of this madness, she had a sense of peace, knowing she could take care of herself financially. She knew how to make, manage and invest money. She knew then that she and her son were going to be fine. She also had an amazing support system with family and friends who held her up when she couldn’t hold herself up.
