The Senior Hour – Guardians Santa Clarita and Focus Physical Therapy – February 1, 2023

On this episode of The Senior Hour, host Barbara Cochran and Dr. Thomas Polucki welcome in special guest Tim Traurig, the president and founder of the Guardians Santa Clarita. He’s here to talk about all the special activities that they offer. Tim mentions that it’s a place where all, “like-minded individuals with similar backgrounds and experiences to come together and do life together. Those are veterans, firefighters, law enforcement, any military,” veteran or currently in the military because they are able to relate and share the challenges they ran into throughout their lives. Sometimes first responders are scared to ask for help when they need it, Guardians is here to offer a safe and open space for those people. Tim also brings up the “devastating recent event of the deputy suicide.” Hopefully having guardians will prevent it from happening in the future.

They have set up a special event for a documentary screening of PTSD-911 Movie on Friday, February 10th at Higher Vision Church in Valencia. The movie is created by an Emmy Award winning director, Conrad Weaver, and will be held in the main auditorium.

Later on in the show, Adam Laraway joins the show to share more information about Focus Physical Therapy. As the owner and founder of Focus Physical Therapy, their main goal is to focus on patients’ special care and finding the best way to help them recover faster which is heavily based on pain science research (Laraway). Laraway says that if patients are not recovering, they are compensating, which is not beneficial to anyone, especially the patient. Additionally, it is much more than physical therapy since it includes having the right diet and type of exercise to see progress and a faster recovery. He also discusses how Focus Physical Therapy differs from other physical therapists in what they do and how it benefits patients.
