Mike Garcia and His Campaign — September 18, 2019
On this episode of The Senior Hour with Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran, Mike Garcia, Republican, Running for the 25th Congressional District joins the show to talk about his campaign and what he wants to do for seniors. Mike has done a lot of research on Medicare and the complicated paperwork and complex costs that come with it. Mike wants to create a single-deductible system to help seniors avoid constantly changing rates. Dr. Dorio brings up how difficult it is for seniors to find alternative care options depending on where they live, and how they often lack the funds to move elsewhere. Mike believes that government-run healthcare services do not offer the best quality services and wants to create competition between private healthcare companies.
Later in the show, Myles McNamara of Comfort Keepers In-Home Care Services joins in to talk about avoiding promising too much to parents regarding care services. It is a difficult conversation to have, but Myles talks about how all of us will eventually need some form of care given to us. Promising parents or seniors that they won’t have to go to a nursing home is not the best promise to make, despite best intentions. Myles and Dr. Dorio talk about how making calls to different living scenarios is a great place to start.
Listen in as Barbara Cochran and Dr. Gene Dorio talk to Mike Garcia about his run for a seat in the 25th Congressional District this upcoming voting cycle, and to Myles McNamara of Comfort Keppers In-Home Care Services.
