Join Barbara Cochran and Dr. Thomas Polucki every Wednesday from Noon to 1 PM on your Hometown Station KHTS 98.1 FM & AM 1220 for The Senior Hour, your home for Senior Care and Lifestyle.

On this episode of The Senior Hour, Hosts Barbara Cochran & Dr. Thomas Polucki talk with Kevin MacDonald, CEO of the SCV Senior Center. The Senior Center is a SCV staple for senior living, offering programs like adult social day care and respite, health and wellness programs, meals, and support groups. Seniors can join in groups where they have a chance to meet other seniors who may have experienced similar life events, giving them a chance to connect.

With Thanksgiving around the corner, the Senior Center is hosting a lunch time meal on Thursday, in part with the Castaic SCV Lions Club. Kevin is celebrating a “milestone” birthday next week, reminding local seniors that they too can join him in enjoying everything that the center offers once they turn 60. Donations and volunteers are always welcomed at the center. For more information go to myscvcoa.org or call 661-259-9444

In the second half of the show, Myles McNamera, CEO of Comfort Keepers joins the hosts in studio. Myles talks about families coming together for Thanksgiving next week, seeing loved ones after what may have been a long while. He urges caregivers to take note of how a parent may appear, whether it’s physical, cognitive, or emotional.

Simple things like monitoring their skills in the kitchen or their personal hygiene can help a caregiver give the best attention to their loved ones. Comfort Keepers has been providing in home care to SCV seniors since 2001.
