Spread the Joy — November 27, 2019

On this episode of The Senior Hour with Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran, Dr. Thomas Polucki, DC, Santa Clarita Chiropractor, joins the show to talk about how to help seniors and older adults have the happiest of holidays and find joy in the lives they lead. Dr. Polucki talks about how holidays can weigh heavily on those who don’t live close to their loved ones, have lost loved ones, or aren’t as close to their families anymore. The holiday season can be a tremendously happy time of the year for some people, while for others it is a reminder of the joy they might not have. Dr. Polucki, Dr. Dorio, and Barbara talk about and encourage people to go out and share their happiness and love with as many people as they can. They encourage their listeners to reach out into the community and find ways to help, no matter how big or small the help is. A simple act of kindness can make the biggest difference in a person or senior’s life, and Dr. Polucki encourages people to try to make a difference in someone’s life this holiday season.

Later in the show, Barbara shares how important it is to be grateful for the life you live. Despite being alone for some holidays, Barbara has never lost her drive and passion for life in the time since her husband has passed away. Barbara encourages people to never take life for granted and to be aware of how important a simple “hello” to an elderly person can change their day for the better. Dr. Dorio and Dr. Polucki talk about social isolation, and how it can impact any person at any age and how some seniors feel it more depending on their own circumstances. Once again they encourage people to talk to their family members, talk to a senior in their life, or a senior not in their life for the sake of coming together and spreading the joy that is supposed to be present in people’s lives during the holiday season.

Listen in as Barbara Cochran and Dr. Gene Dorio talk to Dr. Thomas Polucki about spreading holiday joy, and making every effort to counter social isolation and to break the barriers that make some of us feel alone.
