Vida Gonzales, Petra Vancine, Jason Gibbs — November 13, 2019

On this episode of The Senior Hour with Dr. Gene Dorio and Barbara Cochran, Vida Gonales, Health Services Director and Petra Vancine, Resident Care Coordinator join the show to talk about their responsibilities at Oakmont of Valencia. Vida and Petra play vital roles in keeping the people that live in the Oakmont community healthy, and they oversee many aspects of their lives that help the residents live free of worry. Vida is a licensed nurse and assesses potential residents that are planning to move into the Oakmont community. She also oversees the med techs, nurses, and other medical staff in the community. Petra works directly with Vida to assign new residents the proper care and any other services a new resident might need. Petra and Vida give us valuable insights into how they help their residents be as healthy and happy as possible, and how in most cases it begins with them.

Later in the show, Jason Gibbs, Candidate for Santa Clarita City Council in 2020 joins the show to talk about the principles he believes in, and the goals he has to improve and continue to provide a high quality of life for the seniors of Santa Clarita. Dr. Dorio discusses how some senior citizens face the danger of homelessness or are already homeless, and how Jason might address that issue. Dr. Dorio also talks about the levels of compassion Santa Clarita has for its seniors, and Jason talks about how he cares for his dad which gives him direct personal experience in the types of needs senior citizens may have or want. Jason reveals how his life has been impacted by the seniors in his life, both loved ones and friends in the community, and how much his goals are constantly focused on including seniors in the plans the city has.
