Why We Turn Words Into Emotions — Alex Urbina Radio Show — February 01, 2019

Host: Alex Urbina

Co-Host: Ellen Tunick

Topic: Why We Turn Words Into Emotions

Santa Clarita life coach Alex Urbina was live on-air this week on his weekly radio show to talk about why we turn words into emotions.

“If you are feeling a certain way, you are trying to reflect on that feeling and then come up with words to describe to yourself how you’re feeling,” said Alex. “So much of my job as a coach is helping people figure out what they’re feeling.”

Alex’s co-host Ellen Tunick shares that she recently sent an important question via text and when she didn’t get a response she felt “disrespected.” It left her upset.

Instead of making up a story that is attached to negative emotions about why the person didn’t respond, Alex encourages everyone to stay neutral.

“The way we master our lives is to train ourselves to be neutral,” said Alex. “Take a pause, take a time out so when we send a request via text or email you can be sitting patiently and neutral.”

Doing this allows you to surrender the question and move on, unaffected emotionally, with your life, according to Alex.

Alex has worked with hundreds of different school districts, community centers, universities and non- profits both with the states and abroad. He takes on a limited number of one-on-one clients per year including couples, coaches, educators and other trainers.
