Encouragement — Alex Urbina Radio Show — January 25, 2019

Host: Alex Urbina

Co-Host: Ellen Tunick

Topic: Encouragement

Santa Clarita life coach Alex Urbina was live on-air this week on his weekly radio show to talk about encouraging other people in times of struggle.

Alex’s co-host Ellen Tunick starts the show by saying she struggles with being encouraging.

Encouraging someone is just speaking to their greatness, said Alex. It isn’t about being reactive to what the person is doing and acting annoyed.

“Encouraging someone is painting a picture for them that they can be greater than they are currently showing up,” said Alex.

Alex encourages parents to not get stuck on their kids shortcomings, or the times when they are not showing up to the best of their ability. He says to pay attention to some interpersonal addictions you may have when it comes to controlling their actions, or pointing out failures. He also shares that many parents fear for the outcomes when it comes to our children’s decisions.

“When we project our own fears for them into the conversation, they can interpret that in ways that will not be helpful,” said Alex.

If you make it about them being better and not about you being right, it might land better, according to Alex.

Alex has worked with hundreds of different school districts, community centers, universities and non- profits both with the states and abroad. He takes on a limited number of one-on-one clients per year including couples, coaches, educators and other trainers.

About Alex’s Book: The Inspirational Parent

“The Inspirational Parent” is a book that is written to remind you there are interpersonal tools which already exists within yourself to create a deep, meaningful and connected relationship with your children. One that fosters a higher level of trust, giving you the platform to be effective in your parenting.

One of the most rewarding experiences as a parent is knowing you’re able to inspire and empower your child to create an extraordinary life for themselves.
