Editorial By Carl Goldman
It’s been 37 days since Kamala Harris was anointed the Presidential candidacy for the Democratic party. To date she’s held no press conferences, has shared no specifics about her future policies and hasn’t defended her past very progressive record. She has only issued detailed policy positions on price controls, national health, increased taxes, and has called for full amnesty for all illegals currently in our country.
Given her previous policy positions, and the Biden/Harris track record we feel it’s time to support her candidacy since she will surely lead our nation in the right direction.
So, the next time you’re confronted with a MAGA crazy, just refer to our top ten list for powerful political ammunition. Happy debating!
- Continued Inflation Promises More Grocery Shopping Creativity:
Inflation isn’t happening because of “Big Groceries.” Unnecessary spending by the Federal Government and squeezing the fossil fuel industry are the major causes. No more just throwing items in your shopping cart. Math skills will significantly improve as we try to fill our grocery bag for under $100.00.
2. An Open Border Means More Jobs:
An open border guarantees more crime, which will increase the need for additional law enforcement. We can increase our nursing population as waiting times in hospital ERs surpass all previous records. Lucky for us over 10 million illegals have crossed our borders since Trump left office. A Harris presidency promises those numbers will increase, since she’s had time to hone her border czar skills.
3.. Increased Taxes Will Eliminate Household Waste:
Harris has promised to increase taxes, a strange position for a candidate just prior to an election. She has also called for a 25% Unrealized Capital Gains tax, which means you will be taxed on money you haven’t received. Your house went up $100,000.00 in value? Expect to pay $25,000.00 to Kamala’s government even though you haven’t sold your home.
Under the Harris agenda, Ramon sales will increase, hand me downs will be further recycled, toilets will be flushed less often, food will be eaten way past their expiration date. There’s another positive payoff for forcing us to tighten our belts, it will reduce calorie intake. With one quick swoop of her pen, Harris could solve America’s obese crisis.
4. We’ll Use Less Fuel:
The current administration has been at war with the fossil fuel industry since taking office. In 2020, while Trump was still president, the average price of gas in California was $3.11. Last year it was $5.26. The cost of fuel creates a domino effect on everything else we buy. What’s not to like? We now have a better excuse for slowing down our obligatory visits to annoying relatives.
5. Price Controls On “Big” Grocery Will Make It Easier To Shop:
Since the profit for grocery chains last year was under 2%, Harris’s only detailed policy commitment to date has been to place price controls on grocery’s huge profits. The result is guaranteed major shortages, making it much less confusing to select your grocery items from empty shelves. Maybe Harris can bring on-board the VP of Von’s Moscow Division as her consultant.
6. Eliminating Private Health Insurance Companies Will Allow Doctors To Freelance In The Black Market:
Why not turn over our healthcare to the most trustworthy entity of all, our federal government? Harris wants our health care to run as efficiently as the post office, the DMV and many other government agencies.
Harris will then be motivated to upgrade the www.healthcare.gov website which cost the taxpayers over $1.8 billion (yes billion) dollars for Obama to build so effectively a decade ago. National healthcare for all, it will be so easy, just take a number. Ask Canadian’s and Britain’s how well its working for them.
7. Peace In The Mideast Without Israel:
It’s a good thing Kamala Harris boycotted Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent powerful speech to the joint session of Congress. Who needs to keep the only democratic country in the Mideast that happens to be closely aligned with the United States? And why do the Jews need a homeland?
Since Hamas promotes constant terror and promises to eliminate Israel, a Hamas victory will take one major foreign policy challenge off Kamala’s plate.
8. Free Tuition For Everyone:
After our Federal Government took over all student loans during the Obama administration the cost of college has increased many more times faster than inflation. When I became a college freshman, tuition, room & board for the year was $3,200.00. My alma-mater’s tuition is now over $75,000.00. The cost of tuition at some Ivy League colleges is now $100,000.00 per year.
It’s only fair that all those workers who decide not to go to college pay the tuition for all students, no matter how seriously those students take their academic endeavors.
9. Social Security & Free Medicare For Illegal Immigrants:
Why not? The Biden/Harris administration already stole from Medicare to fund their rebates on electric cars. Oh, you didn’t hear about that? Don’t worry, you will on January 1st, after the election, when your monthly Medicare Part D costs will triple to cover their electric car rebates.
10. Fewer Mean Tweets:
Kamala’s tweets have proven not to be as sarcastic and mean as Trumps. Except, as has already been reported, the tweets Harris has been sending to the 93% of her Vice-Presidential staff who quit in frustration during the past 3½ years. They have receipts.

25% Unrealized Capital Gains tax, ONLY for those with wealth in excess of $100 Million.
Yes. But let’s explore what unrealized capital gains are: SPECTACULATION. So this is a tax or what some unknown person or agencies decides what the wealthy own, but not sold, so the the actual “worth” is assumed. The Supreme Court has already considered this as not being legal. Finally, consider this, if they come after the wealthy, what’s to stop it there from coming after the upper middle class, the middle class, etc. what law says “oh yeah, it’s working so well, let’s do the same from the dual income middle class families just trying to put food on the table?” That our home we bought for and now is worth $200k more (on paper), that now we owe a tax on this imaginary profit? Stop the idiotic proposals. Want to cut our debt? Quit funding ILLEGAL ALIENS in housing, legal costs, food, medicine and education!
Do you realize the devastating ramifications of a unrealized Capital Gains tax on anyone? Not only is it unmanageable without a Totalitarian Government, but every aspect of our country would be impacted.
All taxes on the rich have eventually trickled down to the middle and lower classes.
How would you like to pay a 25% tax on your home that has appreciated $250,000.00 since you bought it, yet haven’t sold it?
So, it’s okay for you Fred, if a Jeff Bezos who started selling books in his garage, or if say an NFL owner paid 180 million for a team 30 years ago, that’s now worth 4 billion. The owner’s tax bracket is already paying the major portion of our taxes. Now, in addition to having to pay Capital Gains if and when he sells his team, you are suggesting he gets to pay a additional 25% on the unrealized gains BEFORE he sells. You should enroll in an economics 101 class, Fred.
Readers: You like Kamala Harris? Can you tell me why you like her without mentioning Trump, Vance, RFK Jr, Republicans, or the fact she’s a woman?
By the way, I’m proud to say I’ve won the same amount of primaries as she has!!!
She is smart. She has a successful background as a prosecutor., State attorney general, senator, and vice president. She states that she wants to be the president for ALL the people.
She is smart?….HA HA HA HA! Now that’s hilarious!!
Successful vice president??…um…she was in charge of the boarder. How did that go for her?? You’re crazy nuts Anne.
Richard, you are ignorant. Boarders are house guests. Did you mean la linea? Rio Grande? Line in the sand? The big fence? How did you get on this side?
Oh darn, did I add an “a”…wow, what an ignorant idiot I am.
That’s the best you got?
Furiosa:A Mad Max Saga is gonna end up looking more like a documentary if Kamala slithers in.
Now that the local ‘Free Republican Press” has spoken, let’s try a dose of reality. Make no mistake, the Democratic Party and Kamala Harris are not the solution to our problems, but if you think for a hot second Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters are, you are literally an insane person. Let’s go through some of your examples first.
1) Inflation is a product of several factors, some of which were caused during the Trump administration, others by the Biden administration, and others by our fiscal policy (a non-partisan group of bankers). Blaming your life’s problems on one person is a reasonably good tactic for a shlub like Trump, who has no answers for anything other than it’s someone else’s fault and you should be in fear of it (or them). If you believe the current inflation numbers, they are under 3% for all goods (aggregated) and the job market has not collapsed, as many Republicans predicted years ago.
2) Few people want an open border, and those who profess to it don’t recognize or appreciate the dangers associated with such a policy. But leave it to Trump to stand before the border wall, claiming everything is a failure and that the Mexicans are coming for our jobs, and they’re rapists and murderers and whatever xenophobic crap he wants to hurl to frighten you, when in reality, one, he was standing in front of a portion of the border wall built during the Obama/Biden administration (at a much lower cost than the Trump era construction: Trump spent $11 billion to finish approximately 450 miles of wall along the almost 2,000-mile southern border) and two, the overwhelming majority of the people coming here are looking for the same things many of our ancestors who came from abroad wanted – a better life for themselves and their families. Oh, and the uneducated populations from south of the border are out for our American jobs in banking, law, medicine, etc. All those high-paying, white collar jobs? Child please. Most of the jobs these folks take are the jobs no white person would stoop to do.
3) Increased taxes…not sure where you are getting this, just like I’m not sure where Republicans get their facts on things like balanced budgets. I can’t think of the last Republican who was in office with a balanced budget. The difference is where the government’s money is spent. For example, Ronald Reagan’s military budget skyrocketed during the end of the Cold War, and the funds for public programs were sapped to fund many of those endeavors. Now I’m not saying that was a bad idea at the time, but if you are wondering why so many people have mental disorders and have no place to go for treatment, that starts with Reagan’s work in both California and at the federal level, when he abandoned most state mental health programs and literally had people kicked out of mental hospitals and delivered to our streets.
4) Using less fuel is a damn good idea if you would still like our planet to be functioning in 100 years. Now, for my selfish friends out there, they probably don’t care, but if they have kids or grandkids, well, maybe you should tune in to the realities of the world (as most other countries with much higher reading and writing scores than this country can attest). Getting alternative fuels in play is a good answer. It will eventually lower costs, create jobs, reduce emissions, and make for a cleaner, healthier planet. If you think climate change is a hoax, you really are hopeless (or just ignorant). Further, if you do a little reading into Project 2025, you’ll be excited to know that the plan is to deregulate the nuclear regulatory system and let private actors build and operate nuclear power plants. Seems safe, right? Oh, by the way, while you were siting in a hospital bed on a military base in the central U.S., no one was driving anywhere…which certainly helped gas prices bottom out at multi-year lows (at one point, oil prices were in the negative – that means oil prices were less than zero). Take a minute to digest that, Carl.
5) Here’s one where we generally agree. Price controls usually don’t work. The market usually (not always) comes to a solution. However, lest we forget Trump’s plans to impose significant tariffs on nearly every competing country in the world, which, I’m sure, will lower our costs for you know…everything we buy that is imported. Trump’s world is more expensive than Harris’s.
6) Universal healthcare is a bad idea…again, we agree on that. But I also know that getting rid of healthcare subsidies for low-income people (also part of the Project 2025 rap sheet) is going to make things much, much worse for low and middle-income Americans. Just wait for the emergency room waits when Trump rolls those subsidies back and everyone who is sick is forced to go to the ER…wait times are pretty good compared to that future scenario…
7) The situation in the Middle East is bad, and likely getting worse, and to say that the United States will cease to be an ally to Israel is about as ignorant a take as one person could make. What the hell do you think two carrier groups in the gulf are for? Show? The U.S. doesn’t have to like the way things have gone down and they certainly don’t have to like Netanyahu’s aggressive, dictatorial stance (look like a preview of Trump’s government and military?). Let’s not kid ourselves… most of those hostages are dead and gone and the IDF is taking it out on the people of Gaza, when many of them have nothing to do with this. You can make an argument either way, so let’s turn to a world under Trump… goodbye Ukraine! Hello another dictatorial power and enemy of the U.S. being allowed to run over an innocent population. Piss on NATO? Why not!? They don’t pay enough of their fair share to allow for global security (and I’m sure that won’t affect the precious stock markets around the globe either). Give me a break.
8) Well, things have gotten so bad on this front that even Dems are taking a stance and focusing on good jobs that don’t require a college degree! Our electorate is getting dumber every year. While I certainly understand the frustration with the rising cost of college (even outpacing inflation – you are correct), the overwhelming data time and time again says that a well-chartered plan through college (and beyond) will pay the degree holder back more than someone without the degree. Not making much money with this endeavor, Carl? Maybe you should go back to school.
9) Again, an area where we have some agreement. There are tax dollars that go to facilities that are meant for use by anyone who needs them (like hospitals). And I don’t know about you Carl, but I think people should have access to clear air, water, and a food source. I know, what a sucker!
10) I know little about the relationship Kamala Harris has with her staff (or former staff), but I also know that plenty of former members of the Trump campaign and administration have gladly shared what an abject piece of crap he is and the terrifying vision he and his MAGA friends have for this country. It should be a warning when every living Republican President, Vice-President, and many of their staffers go on record to share that they are endorsing Kamala Harris and not Donald Trump. For the good of the country… I, for one, agree wholeheartedly with them. Let the Republicans try again in four years to find someone worthy of our votes and not the tyrannical egomaniac they keep supporting.
Here’s one you failed to mention in your list: Despite Harris’s shortcomings, there’s a good reason to vote for her: she’s not a convicted felon. She has not incited violence against her own government. She has not lied, repeatedly, under oath.
Happy debating.
Can you please clean up your diatribe and not be so overly sensitive?
Well said. I’m tired of Carl’s skewed opinions that leave out key facts. It’s unfortunate that he heads up a major media outlet here in Santa Clarita where his views are increasingly in the minority.
How are his views increasingly in the minority when Santa Clarita has been a red district for the last 30+years, including right now??
The RED of the past is not the RED of the present.
Sure it is, it’s still red SCV, period.
Anne, Did you work in the Red Light District then and now?
STFU. No one wants to read your bloated drivel.
Amazing how uninformed the left can be. But don’t worry, much like Harris and Walz, they will create stories, flip flop on positions (please do look at the MRC polling on Special K flopping on Border, energy, ILLEGAL immigration, defunding police, the list goes on!) and blame Trump and Republicans for everything. Interesting (and ironic?) that Democrats, between Obamination and Sleepy Joe have controlled the country for 12 out of 16 years. But everything that’s wrong must have happened in the 4 years under Trump so blame him. Is he perfect? FAR from it! But a better choice than a liberal and socialism society under the newly reigned Democratic puppet!
Thank you,Rob! You wrote a better opinion piece than Carl.
Print it out and use on your backside.
#12 Because Katy Hill is unavailable.
Stephen, I don’t think people who blame Trump for his ineptitude and criminal activities necessarily blame the real Republicans along with him. It’s the MAGA Republicans who have ruined the Republican Party.
Donkey Pox is the disease destroying America.
