Rotary Club Donates Hundreds Of Thanksgiving Turkeys To Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry

The Rotary Club of Santa Clarita Valley provided food for hundreds of families on Tuesday in partnership with the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry in Newhall.

The SCV Rotary Club donated over 200 turkeys and 84 chickens for the SCV Food Pantry to distribute to Santa Clarita residents in need, according to event organizers.

Patrick Kenny, president of the SCV Rotary Club, stated that the nonprofit has taken part in the tradition for over 30 years, beyond the memory of most members, but that the continued need for such service is most striking to him.

“It’s just sad that there are people in need that will stand in line for over a block to pick up a free meal,” said Kenney.

In addition to helping Santa Clarita families, the elderly and other residents in need also saw their bags and boxes filled with donated groceries for Thanksgiving meals.

The Rotary Club “identifies needs” in the community to determine the priority of the charity work they provide in Santa Clarita, according to officials.

The local club is part of a worldwide network with over 1.2 million members.
