They will meet next week with the Southern California Association of Governments to discuss the proposal, which calls for “maglev” (short for “magnetic levitation” vehicles) to link downtown Los Angeles with Palmdale and points in between. 

Officials are well aware that the city must come up with alternative travel methods, with the huge population explosion in Santa Clarita, and the maglev system is one of the most highly technoloically advanced proposals.
