After being robbed four times in the last 16 months, twice by the same men, the owner of a Newhall drug store is questioning whether Santa Clarita is really a safe community.“I am concerned,” said Moazzem Chowdhury, the owner of The Medicine Shoppe.
“The police have to be more active,” he said. “My (teenage) children keep asking, ‘Why is this happening? Why is this happening?’”
Lt. Larry Gump of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said deputies respond as quickly as possible to all robberies.
“A robbery is a big call for us,” Gump said.
Once the department receives a robbery call, deputies first determine if the crime is occurring or has been completed.
