An investigation by the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control has been launched after a pitbull attacked a child in Val Verde Friday.
On Friday around 4:40 p.m., first responders received reports of a 16-month-old girl who was attacked by a dog on the 29200 block of Sheridan Road in Val Verde, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“We did respond to a call about a dog that injured a child and we are currently investigating,” said Don Belton, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control. “The dog is a Pitbull mix.”

The child was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Arriaga.
The Pitbull was not a stray, it was the family’s pet, according to Belton.
“the dog was not euthanized, the dog is under quarantine,” Belton added.
The condition of the child is unknown as of Monday afternoon, according to Arriaga.
