Each year, the Antelope Valley Fair Association board of directors invite the public to submit themes, from which the board selects a winning theme.
This year’s winning theme was submitted by long-time resident Cindy Farrow, who has attended the annual event for decades.
“I am so honored that my theme was chosen,” said Farrow. “I love participating in this annual theme contest and I look forward to hearing about the new theme every year. What a privilege to have been selected.”
This is not the first time Farrow has won the annual contest, her submission “Peaches and Screams” was previously selected in 2008.
“My family and I have been attending the fair for generations,” said Farrow. “When we go to the fair, it just feels like we’re going back in time. It’s truly home to us.”
Over 1,000 entries were received this year, marking an all-time high number of submissions for the contest.
“We are thrilled by the number of theme submissions this year, which more than doubled from years past,” said Dan Jacobs, A.V. Fair and Event Center CEO. “The number of theme contest entries underscores the amazing community engagement and support that makes this Fair one of the best events in the region.”
Those interested in attending can expect more announcements in early 2019 concerning changes to some of the fair’s events, according to Jacobs.
The Antelope Valley Fair and Alfalfa Festival is scheduled for Aug. 16 – 25, 2019 at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster.
