A Castaic woman with three prior DUIs was arrested and charged with a fourth Tuesday evening after being involved in a traffic collision, officials said.
Around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to a traffic collision near Copper Hill and Agajanian Drives, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“When deputies made contact with the adult female driver, they smelled a strong odor of alcohol,” Miller said.
The driver failed to pass field sobriety tests that were conducted at the scene.
Deputies found that the woman allegedly had a blood alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit, officials said.
“A preliminary breath test administered determined the suspect’s BAC level to be .15 percent,” she said.
Using department resources, deputies discovered that the suspect had three prior convictions for DUI.
Barbara Hanson, 66, of Castaic, was arrested on felony charges for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Hanson was transported and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, where bail was set at $100,000, according to arrest records.
